Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 740

The calming corner has provided a safe space for students to decompress and recharge.  Additionally, the roll of paper on the wall is a great spot for kids to share ideas and create.  It's a popular spot within the media center.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The goal is to create an area within the media center where all students from Kindergarten through Fifth grade can go to experience a feeling of calm and creativity.

What will be done with my students

All students will have the opportunity to visit the calming corner in the media center. Here each student can add color to a large piece of community artwork or write, draw and create via a roll of butcher paper hung on the wall.

Benefits to my students

This area will benefit every student at the school in multiple ways. Not only will the calming corner be a place where self expression is encouraged, it is a place that will stimulate creativity, help develop focus and offer a bit of relaxation during a busy or challenging school day.

Budget Narrative

It will cost $30 in order to hang two posters in the calming corner. The wall mounted paper dispenser will cost $150.
