Thank you to the following investor for funding this grant.
Schoen Charitable Foundation - $191.31
Our campus has a pergola outside of our Media Center. The goal with this grant is to maintain and beautify this outdoor area of the campus for all students and staff.
Students and staff can incorporate science, nature, reading and social/emotional well-being into their days in an outdoor setting.
The passion flower vines are beautiful not just for students and staff but for some of Florida's most abundant butterflies; the zebra longwing (the state butterfly), the gulf fritillary and the Julia. Our campus has two thriving gardens. One is in the front of the campus and a larger one is in the back of the campus. Students in both areas currently enjoy its beauty and the opportunity to observe the continuous life cycle of the monarch butterfly as well the life cycle of the plants in the garden.
All students and staff have the opportunity to enjoy the area as they pass by. The opportunity to take a few minutes in this peaceful environment supports our social/emotional learning for anyone who is looking for the opportunity to read, renew, re-set and relieve a bit of stress.
Additionally, our students are campus caretakers. This opportunity for them to be responsible leaders and stewards of the campus is important at many levels.
Golden Gate Nursery is a local plant nursery that supports Collier County schools.
