Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 18

The students were able to work on personal goals of fitness within our Students on the Run club. This club is an extension our schoool's The Leader in Me program. During our intitial group meetings, the students created a mission statement: "As part of Students on the Run, we want to run, exercise, get faster, and have fun". They determined a baseline for how many laps they were able to complete. Then, they set lap goals and kept track of their progress. The culminating event was completing a 5k around our track. Students were able to celebrate their increased stamina and overall fitness levels. Students were able to build community within the group. Additionally, students built self-confidence in their abilities.
