Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 200

Our student entrepreneurs are worked on forming companies, pitched their ideas for funding and then are working on making their products for marketplace.   Thanks to the materials purchased they were able to make their prototypes and practice to master making their product.  With 20 companies in fifth grade this has been a huge help.  The excitement of the program has rubbed off on our fourth and third graders too, so during their quarterly STEAM day they have been working on their future ideas too, all made possible thanks to the grant.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

As we begin with entrepreneurship in fifth grade, we will begin to inspire the students to use 21st century skills as they work with their teams/companies to start a company, create a prodcut, market it, and then sell it.

What will be done with my students

Students will work in teams to create a product. They will work on solving a problem, reusing/recyling a material that they can market and then sell. They will reflect on the process and determine their success (or lack of) at the end of the course. In orider to make this happen they will need materials to create their products.

Benefits to my students

Students will need to collaborate in order to make their company a success. They will in turn learn that good ideas don't always succeed, and that failure is all part of the learning process. The program will take them from the beginning of understanding entrepreneurship to working as a team, having a good idea, and then making it and brining it to market.
