Students were able to utlize the Read 180 or System 44 program daily. These programs are provided to students to help them become stronger readers and writers. The program requires students to have headphones so this grant has ensured that the students can access and use the programs each day they are at school. Because of your generous donation, we have created stronger readers and writers at GVM this 2022-23 schoo year!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

Read 180 is an intensive reading intervention program designed to meet the needs of students whose reading achievement is below the proficient level. The program directly addresses individual needs through adaptive and instructional software, high-interest literature, and direct instruction in reading and writing skills.

What will be done with my students

This program requires students to listen to audio, practice fluency, and hear themselves read on a daily basis. Students often do not bring headphones daily to school which inhibits them from being able to utilize this program in its entirety. This hinders their learning and ability to make gains in reading comprehension and fluency skills.

Benefits to my students

The purpose of this grants is to provide the Intensive Reading teachers at GVM with full class sets of headphones. These would stay in the classroom and be for classroom use only so students are fully engaged and immersed in this in this beneficial program for their reading growth.
