To enhance the school library using 3 dimensional objects to help learners identify and locate nonfiction topics throughout the space
In training our young users on how to locate specific non-fiction topics, the use of "true to topic" realia can help support finding necessary titles. For example, models of specific landmarks to indicate specific countries, animal figures for the animal section, busts or famous people in history for biographies and planet representations for the solar system . These 3 dimensional additions will help students understand how the nonfiction section is fractionated into specific topics.
A full list is noted in the item specifications.
Not only will these additions to our library add to the ambiance of the space, most importantly it will help students to visually recognize the varying topics of topics located within our library. As students begin to learn about the Dewey Decimal System and its organization, these additions will help them make clear connections and lead to meaningful discussions relative to the array of topics represented.
Items purchased will each be used to draw attention to specific bookshelves, genres and sections throughout the media center. No additional costs are involved.
