To add engaging book series to my classroom library in order to give students more experiences and choices through reading.
My students will have access to these books in my classroom library to read whenever they would like. Periodically I introduce my students to different books through "book tastings." This allows them to get interested in different books they may not have picked up off the shelf themselves. They can keep books from our classroom library for as long as it takes them to finish them.
These books will benefit my students and students for many years to come. I chose different genres in order to expose students to genres they might not have read before. Two series are magical fantasies, one series is based on Greek mythology, one is realistic fiction set locally in South Florida, and one is historical fiction telling stories set during different historical events. Many students like reading series because then they automatically know what book they will read next. These books will also benefit my students by allowing them to practice reading skills that we learn throughout the year with books that they choose to match their interests.
This budget includes 5 full book series.
