Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 101

Small tablets were first introduced to 3rd grade students. They were working on a digital citizenship unit. The project was to draw a self portrait. They used the drawing tablets to digitally draw this portrait. The 3rd graders were able to use the tablets responsibly and took great pride in being the grade that got to unwrap the new technology.

The yearbook class which is comprised of 9th-12th graders used the tablets to create art for the yearbook. They liked how they could plug them into the computer and they could start drawing quickly.

5th graders also used them to create artwork digitally. This artwork was printed and put on display for Young Authors and Artist week. Some of the students will be using this art in their year end project which is a yearbook of their elementary career.

4th grade used the tablets to complete some math practices and quizes. They liked to be able to workout the problem on the computer and could show their work. They have also worked on cursive handwriting skills and of course creative free draw.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

To demonstrate unique artwork in the digital world where students can easily use images available instead of creatively using their own art work.

What will be done with my students

Students will be taught how to use the features of the drawing tablet. The tablet works on a pen instead of a mouse, so they will learn how to use a pen over a mouse. They will learn eye hand coordination as they will have to draw on the tablet and see how it relates to the computer screen. They will learn how to use the tablet with software to develop their custom artwork. Finally they will be able to use their artwork in presentations and projects.

Benefits to my students

Foster a basic understanding of digital graphic art.

Easily be able to create and use unique art work in a digital environment.

Students will also be able to digitally take notes and show their work to math problems.

Promote handwriting skills.

Digital artwork is easily shared with parents via email or google classroom.

Have a class set, students will be able to work on artwork collaboratively.
