Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 150

Research shows that rewarding positive behaviors, is far more effective than punishing or tracking poor ones. My students have had a great school year. Rewarding my students for positive actions and deeds, has drastically cut down on any negative interactions. They are helping each other, having more productive conversations and doing what in needed the first time.

Middle school is tough time for many of my students. Seeking out oppotunities for positive interactions has really made difference for all of us. They not only want a positive relationship with me, but with each other. I am spending less time writing referrals and more time enjoying the time I spend with my students.

Your donation has made a huge difference in my classroom. There are a lot of things to celebrate in the middle school classroom. I now have the resources to do that.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

Be able to reward student growth and positive behavior in the classroom.

What will be done with my students

My students will get a token to recognize their positive behavior and improvements in the classroom. If a student makes an effort such as going from completing one assignment a week to three we need to celebrate and encourage that student to keep moving in a positive direction. So I plan on recognizing these students for making positive changes and rewarding the students who are already doing great things in the classroom

Benefits to my students

Feeling better about themselves through a positive behavior system. It is wonderful to be the teacher actively looking for and rewarding positive actions and contributions. Then one sitting back and looking to catch students off task or not contributing to the classroom environment. Middle school is a time of big changes, and knowing you have teachers who care and want the best for you can lighten the load.
