Goal

To create a positive environment in the classroom and build a growth mindset within my students. This will inspire and promote reading amongst striving readers and increase reading Lexile levels. 

What will be done with my students

In the classroom the students will read books on their Lexile levels and be excited to pass a reading counts comprehension test. When students know that someone cares about how they perform and they get acknowledged for it, they are more willing to participate. The more they participate, the greater their gains will be. For every 5 points they earn in reading counts, they will receive a brag tag. The more they read the more points they earn. The students will set goals and will be responsible for keeping track of their progress. The brag tags will hang from their backpack for all to see!! 

Benefits to my students

The key to ensuring success in reading is for students to practice, set goals, and succeed in reading. The more they read, the better they get. Students will benefit because this goal will help improve their reading proficiency by improving vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency skills. Reading and receiving brag tags will help students build personal responsibility toward increasing their reading achievement by allowing them to set quantifiable reading goals and track their own progress. The Brag Tags are for celebrating the students success!  

Budget Narrative

All brag tags are purchased through schoollife.com. Each brag tag for the reading counts are .20 cents each. There are 20 brag tags for students to earn in increments of 5 points. The extra brag tags are for reaching their goals and star student achievement. The cable rings are for each student to hang from their backpack. The shipping will be $9.45. Thank you so much!
