Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 120

The grant has allowed many students to join our running club. Our goal is to reach 26 miles by the end of the schiool year and join the Final Mile at GGH for the big celebration.

The grant has allowed us to purchase lanyards for the students, foot tokens to keep track of their miles, and card holders to put their QR code paper in to use with the ipads to keep track of their distances.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

To allow students to start their day with fitness not only for physical health but for mental health as well. This will allow them to be more focused throughout the school day and allow them to participate in our 95210 Kids on the Run program.

What will be done with my students

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, students will be able to participate in our morning run club. They may walk, jog, or run. For each completed lap, they will scan their barcode on the Marathon Kids fitness app. Every ten laps equals a mile. After each completion of 5 miles, the students will receive 5 foot tags to go onto their lanyard to show how many miles they have run. The goal is to get to 26 miles which will allow them to participate in the final mile at a designated school for the celebration of them running the length of a marathon and for the accomplishment of being dedicated to good health.

Benefits to my students

Starting their day by exercising and helping them focus throughout their school day. A chance to build relationships with other students and get a feeling of belonging to a group that promotes health and fitness. It is a safe place for them to be outside and exercise. To foster healthy habits not only for the school year but for life.

Budget Narrative

The foot tokens are to represent each mile ran. The lanyards are what we use to hold the barcode badge for scanning. The re-sealable badge holders are used to protect the barcode and placed on the lanyard.
