We would like to thank you for your  contribution to purchase books to support art education. Your donation is very important to us, because it has enhanced our artistic creations through literacy.

Your contribution has allowed me to integrate read alouds while building our classroom community. The students are always excited to see a new book! The book introduces a new art element or theme that leads into an art project. They are always so curious trying to guess their new project while listening to the story! Thank you again!

With gratitude,
Mrs. Kovacs

Original Grant Overview

Goal

My goal is to increase student reading success by integrating literacy through art. Reading aloud to students models fluent reading while acquiring ELA and ART vocabulary! I would like to read books to my students that include elements of art as well as developing growth mindset and practicing the 7 habits.

What will be done with my students

These books will be used to read to students prior to learning a new art concept such as line, shape, color, pattern, form, and space. The books will also include art history and key artists. Through illustrations, students will develop connections between art, story plots, facts, and print.

Benefits to my students

Reading aloud provides many benefits for children. These benefits include vocabulary acquisition, engagement, interest in reading and books, developing connections between spoken and written word, increased comprehension, phonemic awareness, sight word acquisition, while learning the elements of art and principles of design through reading.
