Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 128

This program was truly wonderful for our students. They were able to create business plans, present their ideas to business leaders, make products to sell and have the confidence to sell their products at the school’s market day. Seeing the students’ growth in public speaking, leadership skills, and creativity was inspiring to me. I asked my students to reflect on the year and the impact the program had on them. Their reflections on the impact are below:

Student 1

My thoughts about Entrepreneurship

I thought it was great, wonderful, and fun. I enjoyed making the products but mostly did not have enough time to make the products, but I loved it so much.

The Shark Day

I was overly excited for this day but scared of what they will think of our products, until the end of our presentation. I was proud of myself and how I got 20 dollars from The Sharks! Everyone was supportive and everyone got 20 dollars.

Market Day

I was super excited to sell my products to 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade and parents, I was so surprised how all our bracelets sold out! Thank you very much for this program!

Student 2

Shark day was amazing and the best day. Their faces looked like they really enjoyed our presentation, and I was very nervous and shy, but I did it.  My team did it together and we were so proud of one another.

The Entrepreneur program was interesting to me all the different teams coming in the morning each week and worked hard each day I'm happy about the program. I hope next year’s program will be awesome for them.

My team were hard workers. They talked sometimes but, in the end, we got so much done. I'm so proud of them because they are the best team I've ever had. It was the best experience. I'm so happy and grateful.

Student 3

I think Shark Day was amazing!!It was fun showing people our presentation and explaining our product and how it worked. The Sharks were interested, and I liked how people looked at our product. It was a really good and amazing day. I also enjoyed the teamwork and how we made our product. I loved it.

The market day was so fun! We got to sell our products and give people our beautiful creations. I loved it and I love how Mrs. Sohn was so happy. She really helped us be entrepreneurs.

Student 4

My thoughts about Entrepreneur programs are great. Mrs. Sohn was amazing by helping and working our way up. The presentation of the Sharks made me 50% nervous and 50% brave. Plus, the Market Day was fun because we got a lot of tickets by selling 25 of our Perler Bead Bracelets. Thank you, Mrs. Sohn, I feel proud and tremendous about our team.

Student 5

One of the things I liked was presenting to the SHARKS. It was both scary and exciting before and after.

For Market Day, my favorite thing was working together making our products, and selling them to different grade levels on market day.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

My goal is for my fifth-grade students to experience true entrepreneurship. This year will be our first year for the entrepreneur program. Students will learn how to work in teams, create a business plan, design a prototype, present their idea, and sell their created product. Students will need a Cricut and various crafting items to develop their ideas into marketable merchandise.

What will be done with my students

Students will work in groups to outline and build their business plans. Once the group is in favor of the plan, they will use the Cricut to create vinyl, aluminum, and wood products to sell on the market day. Each student will learn how to market their products and present their ideas to leaders in the community. We will host a market day where the merchandise they design will be sold. Students will be taught how to be social entrepreneurs and give back to the community. Before the market day, student groups may choose non-profit organizations to receive a percentage of their profits.

Benefits to my students

If this grant is funded, there will be many benefits to my students. Students will strengthen their creativity, critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills as they design their prototypes. Allowing my students to have access to the Cricut and the various crafting supplies will support their creativity and innovation, and it will allow them to use their imaginations while learning to be entrepreneurs. They will become effective communicators while planning and constructing their products, troubleshooting and by pitching their new merchandise. They will also learn the art of charity when they choose a non-profit organization and make their donation.

Thank you very much for supporting the students of Collier County and considering my grant.
