Impact to My Classroom

We now have the best classroom library at NPE! My students were so happy when the new carpet, pillows, and books came in.

My grant, "Readers are Leaders" was written to provide my students with books they would love to read to help them develop a love for reading and it worked! The classroom library is the place to be now!

My students now have easy access to all 15 SSYRA books and books they chose to put in there. This has positiviely influenced them to read more. They now feel confident and independent in choosing their own reading selections of their own interest. Becasue they are reading so much more, they are developing those literacy skills and strategies to help them suceed in their comprehension assessments.

The pillows and carpet created a confortable enviornemnt to read and work. My students are always asking to go to the library now!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

My goal is to help give my students a comfortable place to read with new leveled books of their interest, to increase their fluency and flourish in their reading abilities.

What will be done with my students

My students love to read! They are enthusiastic about learning and I want to provide them with every experience to do so.
These leveled books will be perfect for the various reading levels in my wonderful 4th grade classroom. These leveled books will help my students become successful and enthusiastic readers—with specially selected books for every reading level! They can choose between multi level books that is perfect for their individual needs! I would love to have a cozy classroom library where students can pick a book of their interest and dive right into the book! I also want to include all the SSYRA books for my students so they can continue to reach their reading goals!

Benefits to my students

Readers are Leaders!
This grant will benefit my students in so many ways. When readers read at their own pace and on their own level, they are gaining experience to become fluent and learning new vocabulary. Leveled reading helps familiarize students with reading and ensures readers' success as they slowly build up their reading strategies, which will result in better reading skills!
I also want to provide them with a reading area that has a small carpet and a few pillow seats to help them focus in a comfortable way. Having this warm, comfortable area will encourage the students to read more!

Budget Narrative

I have asked for a small carpet and four pillow seats to provide my students with a comfortable area to read.
I have also asked for a gift card to buy the library books. This will give me the opportunity to have a conversation with my students on what books they are interested in before buying them. Including them in this decision will also will get them extremely excited to read!
There are also 15 SSYRA Books that will be included in that purchase.
