Dear Donors,

Thank you again for this amazing donation. I have already see such an impact within my classroom walls. I used some of the materials to inspire first graders to read. Older students buddy read to the younger students and used the pens to write a story on the blank story books. During the week, my small group students could not wait to use the rainbow pencils to begin writing an opinion writing rough draft. I do need to mention that these are my reluctant writers!!!

I incorporate all of the games during reward time. These truly motivate each student to stay focused and engaged. As the students pass or gain more knowledge, they receive the "special" animal erasers. I know this grant has already helped so many gain a wealth of information.

I am blessed that this grant was funded and I am thrilled at the motivation that is ongoing!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

My goal is to help students develop the knowledge, skills, and experiences to comprehend all text in a fun and enthusiastic way!

What will be done with my students

My students struggle to read and therefore have low self-esteem. These games will be used as a mini lesson to introduce and review specific phonics concepts in a fun and exciting way. Blank story books will be used to create stories that can be used an as exit ticket to gather data on newly learned skills. The supplies will be a bonus that will spark their enthusiasm to make literacy much more enjoyable.

Benefits to my students

These games and materials will motivate and encourage students to foster a love for reading, build knowledge, and persevere through challenging text which will increase comprehension.
