Champions For Learning - $477.10
I am a Physical Education (PE) teacher at a Title I school in Southwest Florida where 92% of the student body is economically disadvantaged. Currently, students here do not have much access to playground equipment at recess. My school and I are seeking funding for equipment to reverse the situation. With your assistance, we hope to encourage more teamwork, fitness, and fun at recess.
Equipment will provide a more enriching playground experience at recess. The various items on the attached list create activities for students to engage with one another in exciting, new ways. Fresh pursuits will cultivate the students’ social skills while improving overall fitness.
Recess is just as important as core subjects. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, recess benefits students by:
• Increasing their level of physical activity
• Improving their memory, attention, and concentration
• Helping them stay on-task in the classroom
• Reducing disruptive behavior in the classroom
• Improving their social and emotional development
New outdoor equipment is vital to recess because it fosters diversity in the way students interact alone or in groups. For example, replacing our worn and faded balls would allow students to play a variety of individual or team games. If our grant is approved and we receive outdoor equipment, our students will elevate their level of physical activity while also having fun. Thank you for your consideration in advance.
The above items will be purchased from Amazon and are suitable for all grades.
