Florida Power & Light - $899.94
This program has two goals. The primary goal is to provide students with engaging lessons using technology. As a fifth-grade team, we already create our lessons digitally using PowerPoint slides and this program allows us to enhance our slides and make them interactive for our students. We can connect with our students in a 1:1 classroom environment by using the teacher’s dashboard from our laptops and are able to quickly see what each individual student is thinking throughout the lesson. Furthermore, we can present students work anonymously to use for classroom debates and collaboration on how to find misconceptions and build upon students understanding of the material be taught. Students do not worry as much about having the wrong answer or feel silly in front of their peers because they are learning from each other. The secondary goal is to teach students how to use the program to create their own interactive presentations throughout the school year, which will teach them how to use technology in a productive and meaningful way.
By creating interactive and meaningful slides, we can engage every student and quickly assess their understanding of the material. The program allows students to annotate, take notes, answer draggable questions, multiple choice questions, written responses, true or false, imbed videos and links as well as drawing slides. We can create slides with audio instruction, descriptions, and examples for my students to hear while they read and respond to interactive questions. Furthermore, since a teacher can see all students’ screens on their own laptop, we can quickly analyze how the class is doing and adapt my lessons quickly! Take a pause, back up, and re-explain. Another, great aspect to this program is the “Flashcard Factory” which transforms the way students engage with academic vocabulary. Students can be paired up digitally to create dynamic and engaging vocabulary terms with illustrations to match. Then, as a class we pick the cards that help the class best remember each term. Students can be academically creative and embrace the challenge of creating classroom vocabulary cards.
By using the Pear Deck program to enhance our PowerPoint slides we can support remote and asynchronous work with our students. Control the pace of the lesson and project students work anonymously. Create a wide range of interactive slides as well as drop in questions at the click of a button. Keep students in sync with the class by locking all students’ screens, as well as using a built-in timer that appears on their screens. Furthermore, we can turn the lessons into students paced and provide them the opportunity to move throughout the slides at their own. Provide feedback to individual students during a lesson with Teacher Feedback. Capture and share student progress and leave feedback after the session with Reflect & Review. Add audio to slides as well as a new Beta program for Immersive Reader for added differentiation. Furthermore, as other teachers in the grade level use the program, we can create one lesson and share the interactive lessons to other teachers on the team, as well as share the teacher dashboard of valuable student insight within lessons.
