Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 76

How excited our first graders were when they first saw the lab coats and safety glasses!  They were beaming as they put them on and opened their science notebooks for the first time.   Four classes of first graders were impacted by the funding of this grant!  As our classes continue through the year, we are looking forward to wearing these as we explore and do experiments in science.   Even in the short time that we have had these, the children have commented how they feel and look like real scientists.  We are all so thankful for the support we received to purchase these.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

Our goal is to build a firm foundation for our first graders and help them to start seeing themselves as scientists and engineers at this early age.

What will be done with my students

As we are exploring various science and STEM topics, we want our first graders to dress like scientists by wearing lab coats and protective glasses.

Benefits to my students

They will begin to visualize themselves as scientists. This will be a fun way to make science more engaging as they collaborate to solve different science and STEM related problems. These can be cleaned and reused not only this year but also for the following years.

Budget Narrative

The budget covers the children's lab coats, children's protective glasses and 5 adult lab coats.
