Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 2000

Community Murals are a Form of Communication. Art projects come and go. Murals are here to stay. They are a legacy, a means for students, staff, and stakeholders to communicate from generation to generation. Murals are an artistic dialogue serving to provoke and inspire present and future student populations. Murals speak to school bodies.

The Mural project was an combination of staff and student input. I sent out a form for staff to vote on the mural images. the positive images that are on the 8 permeate walls (sun, flowers, heart, turtle...) Using those images the  students and community volunteers (retired Collier County Art Educators) drew and painted on the schools 8 courtyard walls created a beautiful, positive and bright space for all the students and the schools community. During the drawing and painting process--class throughout the day continued the assist the painting process through the supervision of the retired art educators.

With this generous grant we will be able to use the leftover materials to continue the project in the following year.

Thank You!

You made a difference in the culture of Oak Ridge Middle Schoo

What will be done with my students

The students during art class will come up with ideas for image that can use the technique of "mural painting" to line the walls of the school as a permanent art installation.
