These recorders were used a lot in small group. Teachers are able to record brief instructions on them, as well as write on the attached white board. This helped the teacher not have to keep repeating directions, and allows students to still hear them, as well as read any written directions.

Goal

My goal for students is to be able to successfully complete standards based tasks while away from the teacher.

What will be done with my students

After a lesson is taught, many times students are working independently on a task, or in small groups. The teacher is then able to focus on a small group herself, for students that need more integration with the content. Often, students working without the teacher could misread directions, or need to interrupt the teacher for repeated directions. These rainbow recorders are able to have the directions verbally recorded on them, as well as a short note written on the installed whiteboard. The students are able to replay the directions as many times as needed!

Benefits to my students

As these Rainbow Recorders can be used for any task, it will benefit my students to use these in all subject areas. Sometimes a task is not correctly corrected not so much due to not understanding the curriculum content, but because the directions were not understood or followed. These Rainbow Recorders allow students to repeatedly listen to the recorded directions which helps to better ensure accuracy just based on following directions. They will have more confidence at working independently as they know that they are able to listen to the directions as many times as needed, and this will also in turn keep them engaged with the content as well!
