Goal

My goal for students is for them to to be able to grasp the math curriculum content while building critical thinking skills, and to be able to do so independently or in a small group. 

What will be done with my students

Math VersaTiles are mathematical "puzzles" that are centered around 5th grade math standards. These puzzles allow multiple students to work on the academic content being focused on at the moment, and to do so independently, in small groups, rotations, centers, stations or with the teacher. They are able to complete the tasks, and then self check their work. If incorrect, they are able to go back and try to solve for only the errors, and repeatedly self check for accuracy!
 

Benefits to my students

One benefit to my students is that each VersaTile is aligned to state and national standards. Another benefit is that it ensures students are 100% engaged while solving content based puzzles. Students are also able to build confidence due to its self-checking answer system. Another positive is that this can be used year after year: no need for copies or annual subscriptions!

 

Budget Narrative

The budget is to purchase a kit that comes with 6 different mini-kits inside, each covering a different standard. Altogether, there will be 24 student activity books, 8 answer cases and a teacher guide. The $342.38 covers all of this and tax too. Shipping is free.
