A Champion for Learning - $608.30
Students will be able to independently write texts using correct spelling
When a learning activity begins that requires students to write observances, explanations, narratives or expository text the students will have their own When I write... book to look up the correct spelling of words that they have not yet learned how to spell. Words are introduced weekly and students will record these words spelled correctly in their personal book. Some words are already provided spelled correctly from the publisher.
Writing is a very difficult skill for many students. Much of the anxiety that comes from this process is that students are unsure about their writing and how to write. By providing a resource that the students can use to spell words correctly, students will find a sense of accomplishment in being able to do that. This will take some of the anxiety away so the student may focus more on their content rather than the process. These books are then passed to the second grade team who will pass them out to students to continue to use in second grade
