Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 850

With assistance from our school art teacher, YouTube and other online resources, the Champions For Learning grant that allowed us to purchase all materials, and another grant from the Champions For Learning called Air Plants, Succulents and Cacti...Oh My!...students were able to learn the proper technique of making clay pinch pots, and how to properly paint and preserve these for sale at our Winter Extravaganza.  On the day of the Winter Extravaganza, while the student entrepreneurs sold their items, parents, faculty, and theatre students sold our pots and plants. Parents, students, community, and families that attended the event were very happy with their purchase of the student made pinch pots and were delighted to pair their pots with one of our plants.  Such an awesome fund-raiser that was only possible through the generosity of Champions For Learning.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

Students will create pinch-pots to sell with a variety of air plants, succulents and cacti for CPM's first annual sale to support our theatre programs.

What will be done with my students

Students and faculty/staff will create pinch pots to sell to support our theatre programs at Cypress Palm Middle.
Students will be taught the technical steps on how to create a pinch pot and use their own creativity to build one-of-a kind pots.
Students will volunteer to teach other students and faculty/staff on how to make pinch pots for our sale either in our Before School Program or After School Program.
This will become an annual event to support our theatre program.

Benefits to my students

-Learn how to follow directions and comply with technical information to make a pinch pot successfully.
-Learn the benefits of volunteerism and volunteer their time to assist others- students and adults- who would also like to create a pinch pot to support the sale for the theatre programs.
-Allow students to be creative.
-Wonderful time to be collaborative and have fun for an annual cause
*Air Plants, Succulents and Cacti will be sold with these pots and is another grant.
