This year was Mike Davis Elementary Schools first year with a Student Council. The grant provided by Champions For Learning helped our students in Student Council develop amazing leadership, organizational, and teamwork skills. Additionally, we gave students opportunities to plan and run school wide events. The Champions for Learning grant awarded our Student COuncil t-shirts to show off all their hard work and collaboration. The grant also provided supplies to put on two of our schools State Testing Pep Rallies. The students used the funds to create a fun and positive environment with encouraging posters and school spirit props. The student Council also participated in different events and community service projects that they used the budget to create posters to spread the word to all students in the school. These events included a canned food drive, a recylcing challenge, and a kindness week. These funds were so beneficial to help our Student Council run successfully.

Goal

My goal is to create a positive school environment and develop leaders through the brand new student council program.

What will be done with my students

My students will take on leadership opportunities to create projects, fundraiser, and pep rallies as leaders of Mike Davis Elementary. Shirts will be worn by the student council to show their unity. We will use the star sunglasses and necklaces at pep rallies. Students will make posters ahead of time to hang around the school before state testing. The pencils will be given out to students after the pep rally to increase excitement and encourage hard work. Pool noodles will be used as a tunnel for students to enter under when they go into the pep rally. Pompoms will be used for added excitement and cheering during the pep rally.

Benefits to my students

The students will develop leadership skills, learn how to synergy, and feel they are having a voice within the school.
