Goal

In my classroom positivity and prizes are everything. Every Friday we have a raffle for various prizes: chips, candy, mechanical pencils, etc. The way the students are entered into the raffle is through positive behavior or participation. They receive tickets and write their names on them, which are drawn on Fridays for prizes.

Additionally, we have continual class parties to encourage my students to stay on task and do their best in their learning. I have hosted “Starbooks Day”, “Greek Gods Day” and routine amount of pizza parties. These all encourage my students to do their best and enjoy our class. My goal is to keep these positive incentives going throughout this year. 

What will be done with my students

My students will continue to have our class raffles for prizes along with parties to celebrate their success. They will then have a more vested interest in our class and their learning. 

Benefits to my students

I have seen a huge benefit to continually rewarding my students. They’re excited to come to school and more specifically my class. They’re kinder to each other, and they feel seen for the work they put into our class. It truly encourages them to try harder and give their best efforts, knowing their labors will be rewarded. 

Budget Narrative

1. I have picked a 5 count of the box of spicy chips because those always go quickly in my classroom raffles.
2. The Skittles and Starburst candy are another hot ticket item in our raffles which is why I have a 3 count.
3. The erasers are a fun choice for my students to pick in our prize bin if they’re not interested in any of the food choices.
4.The mechanical pencils are another useful option for my students in our prize raffle.
5. The tickets are what we use for drawing names on our Friday prize raffle. They are passed out frequently which I’m requesting a 5 count.
