Original Grant Overview
Goal
To encourage collaborative problem solving and teamwork.
To increase student skill proficiency and fluency with elementary math concepts while also improving math positivity. Paired alongside our standards aligned math program, math games will supplement the curriculum in a fun, memorable and engaging way.
What will be done with my students
Math games will be incorporated into lower school math classes as part of math centers and math practice. Games will be played during classroom math times and during math enrichment classes. Games will reinforce the grade level curriculum in grades K-5, build fluency, foundational skills, and engage students in problem solving and collaboration. These Math Games will start a "Math Game Library" in the Math Coordinator's Lower School Math Classroom.
Benefits to my students
Students will grow in computational fluency, number sense, mathematical understanding and reasoning. Students will have fun practicing math. According to NCTM, "Fluency requires a balance and connection between conceptual understanding and computational proficiency." Having access to and playing math games in the classroom will help facilitate that balance and connection.

Math Games will be purchased through Seacrest's Amazon Prime account and Lakeshore. The purchases will be tax-exempt.
