Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 35

Through this grant we were able to take our students on several community based outtings. We were able to take them to a resturant for a sit down experience where they got to practice proper table manners, ordering their food, waiting and proper behavior. We also were able to go on a more causual outing to the mall for fast food. The students favorite time of the year is the outting to the bowling ally at the end of the year. All of our students had a blast and did a great job putting to use the skills that we teach them on campus out in the community. Thank you for your support and making these  activities possible for our students.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The goal of this grant is to fund Transition classrooms with traveling to various places in the community to get hands on instruction in leisure activities, as well as educational and vocational training.

What will be done with my students

Our students will be able to travel outside of the classroom to gain valuable hands on experience through different leisure and vocational activities. They will be able to take part in activities that they typically wouldn't with their families due to the extra support we have with our staff. It's very valuable to teach our young adults appropriate things they are able to do during their free time, as well as applying the skills we've learned in the classroom in public.

Benefits to my students

The students will be able to apply the skills from the classroom in various types of settings teaching them the appropriate way to interact and behave. They will be able to enjoy experiences such as eating at a restaurant (practice waiting, ordering, table manners, paying the check), bowling (leisure activity-waiting/taking turns, following instructions), and theater(proper theater manners, listening).

Budget Narrative

The money will go to purchasing the meals, bowling experiences, theater tickets, and other various activities we do.
