Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 40

This grant was a blessing to our program! It assisted with the transition classrooms practicing their cooking skills. We were able to make so many different meals that allowed the students to practice their skills from reading a recipe, gathering the ingrediants, following step by step instructions and then lastly being able to enjoy the meal. We made breakfast food, tacos, cookies, cakes and brownies. We also made pasta and garlic bread. Breakfast food was a hit because it's easier for our students and not as many steps for them to complete. Thank you again for thinking about our students!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The goal would be for our transition level students to practice cooking skills which helps to prepare them for real world skills that they will need to be as close to independent as possible!

What will be done with my students

We will use the money to go toward many cooking lessons. The funds will be divided between 4 classrooms. Students will be making a shopping list based on the recipe, shopping for the ingredients and then preparing the recipe. They will also practice setting a table and appropriate manners.

Benefits to my students

Students benefit by this activity because they are able to practice real life skills that will benefit them once they complete the program. It gives them the opportunity to go out shopping to follow a list to get things needed to complete the recipe. They then will be able to cook and enjoy it! They will also be able to learn different cooking methods such as using a microwave, stove top and oven.

Budget Narrative

Each classroom would receive $400 dollars to spend on various cooking lessons they do with their students.
