Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 604

Every students was impacted by this grant!  Thank you!!  I created a fun "Let's go to Hawaii" Unit in order to introduce the Ukulele. The younger grades Kindergarten and 1st were able to hold the instrument and pluck a few strings.  The older four grades are continuing to learn about the instrument and how to play it.  We will continue to improve our ukulele skills for years to come!

Below, I will try to attach the story which was filmed about it, but here is the web address in case the file is too large. https://www.collierschools.com/Page/19638

Original Grant Overview

Goal

To obtain a class set of ukuleles

What will be done with my students

Students will begin learning to play ukuleles in 2nd grade and progress each year through 5th grade.

Benefits to my students

Learning to play ukulele would not only help our school meet many Florida State Standards for music, but also bring SO MUCH JOY to our students. There are multiple studies which show the benefits of music to the emotional well being of children and music can also enhance academic core classroom learning.

Budget Narrative

I have used this brand of Ukuleles when I taught at Vineyards Elementary. They are great quality for a very reasonable price at $28.96 each from the Music & Arts company. Shipping would be included. This grant would benefit 4 different grade levels and I sincerely thank you for considering this request.
