Every great advance in science has been issued from a new audacity of imagination. --John Dewey
Seacrest Country Day School has initiated a new K-5 STEM program under the direction of a Science Coordinator. The curriculum provides terrific, hands-on learning experiences that encourage curiosity, inspire creative thinking, and encourage students to audaciously explore their imaginations when considering scientific phenomena. This grant request seeks to provide Chromebooks to be used by students in collaborative teams for further research and exploration.
Students will work in collaborative learning teams of 2-4 to conduct online research using Chromebooks and curated research sites to further their understanding of grade-level STEM curriculum topics. Additionally, students may submit topics of curiosity to explore independently and complete a research project to share with classmates.
*Enhance collaboration and teamwork
*Develop grade-level appropriate STEM research skills
*Increase personal responsibility and respect tech tools through proper care and procedural use of Chromebooks
*Increase understanding of digital citizenship
*Growth in knowledge and understanding of grade-level specific STEM topics
*Develop confidence and presentation skills through independent study interests
All tech needs requested in this grant proposal will be purchased and prepared for student use by the Seacrest Director of Technology. This ensures the devices and software are properly inventoried and maintained for Seacrest student use.
