This grant was used to motivate and reward Intensive Reading students to work through the Lexia PowerUp program with precision.  We saw an increase in engagement, as well as proficiency.  Students actually looked forward to getting their work completed.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

The goal of the program is to increase the amount of time that students spend reading and to improve their literacy acquisition through research-based district-approved TIER 2 Intervention. 

 

What will be done with my students

The reading incentive program will be implemented in middle school Intensive Reading classrooms for striving readers to increase proficiency on state assessments. Students will be rewarded for reading a certain number of minutes each week or for completing reading challenges. Rewards may include stickers, certificates, prizes, or special privileges.  

 

Benefits to my students

Reading fluency and comprehension will improve and students will show growth. 

 

Budget Narrative

The grant program will be used to fund financial assistance for purchasing rewards.
