Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 150

Students were able to use the 3D printer to assist in taking an idea for a product for their business and put it into a visual prototype. They would used a program to design the item/product and then had something that brought the design to life. It allowed students the ability to further understand the process of developing their own business.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

To provide students with the ability to develop a physical prototype of their product/business idea.

What will be done with my students

During the course of the semester, students develop a product idea, create a business plan, and test their product to their target market. They will then pitch their final business idea to potentially take their business further. The goal of this class is to provide students with the opportunity to learn how to start a business from start to finish including developing a unique product idea.

Benefits to my students

The 3D printer will allow students to take their ideas and build them so they can better understand their design and product. Students will be able to create a prototype to test with their target market to eventually gain feedback to enhance their products.

Budget Narrative

The 3D printer (Flashforge brand) will allow students to design their ideas online as well as see their product idea come to life as a prototype. The grant also asks for additional funds for the various colors of filament.
