Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 50

My school has a bi-weekly schoolwide reward for students who show leadership skills.  Students choose different activities that they would like to participate in.  When I introduced the new materials that I was awarded from Champions for Learning, the students were so excited.  My room was the happening place to be this morning!  The students explored all of the new activities, however, the elastic bracelet station was the most popular.  The students were very patient as they taught me how to weave a patterned design and were happy when I finally got it down pat!  I had a great time bonding with our HLE Leaders and look forward to our next meeting together.  Thank you Champions for Learning!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

My goal is to have new and exciting activities for my students to do when they visit the Media Center for their bi-weekly Sharpen the Saw reward.

What will be done with my students

Students who show leadership skills and meet certain criteria get to participate in a bi-weekly event at our school called Sharpen the Saw (named after Habit 7 in Stephen Covey's Seven Habits of Happy Kids). They choose different activities to participate in as a reward for their hard work.
I offer a variety of projects/materials for students to experiment with. Many of the materials are getting old and students are getting bored with the same activities.

Benefits to my students

By purchasing new materials and activities, it will encourage my students to not only ensure that they are acting like leaders every day, but get them excited to create, play and explore new things.

Budget Narrative

These materials will allow my students to synergize with each other, and also encourage them to use their creativity, problem solving skills and game strategies.
