Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 300

Thanks to Champions for Learning, our small club was able to beautify our campus!  Our students worked very hard to create beautiful murals with the canvases, enhance our garden with gorgeously painted rocks, and so much more.  We have received so many compliments from both students, and staff.  On our recent Leadership Day we received many compliments on how colorful and beautiful the campus was!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

Herbert Cambridge Elementary is now in its fourth year. We are starting a beautification club to ensure that Otter Pride is represented inside and outside of the building. We want to make the campus as beautiful and unique as our students.

What will be done with my students

We will take the students on a "field trip" of our campus.
We will discuss the way we feel walking through our space, and what improvements could be made. After that, once a month students from grades K-5 will meet to work on various projects. This grant will cover materials that will be used for the students to create meaningful spaces in the hallways, bathrooms, and even outside. Students will be responsible for creating art, deciding what areas need to be "beautified", and suggesting ways to improve the campus.

Benefits to my students

All of Herbert Cambridge Elementary, and its stakeholders will benefit from this opportunity. The projects completed with our club will not only instill a sense of pride in those who are on the club, but for all who walk the halls. Students will also have a deeper understanding of how to set goals, how to work together, and how to follow through.

Budget Narrative

These are materials we foresee needing for our club. Many of the items, such as the food coloring and transparencies, will be used in art projects for the students to complete. As facilitators of the club we have a few projects in mind like stained glass windows and a rock garden, but some of the items are general crafting materials that will be beneficial to have as we solicit ideas from the students in the club. There are also a few items we have included to be part of ongoing projects such as the window clings, and bubble machine. All of these items will help make our campus feel as unique as the students inside of it.
