Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 67

Students are learning to use movement and strength training throughout the day.  Each student will learn to target muscle groups and take forward steps towards personal fitness and physical strength.  Students have a wide array of personal fitness experience.  No matter the level, all students will have the opportunity to become more confident and willing to try to push themselves physically.  


This is an ongoing mission. We are just getting started and with the end of the school year here, we will have a bit more flexibility to practice healthy habits that students can take home for the summer.  

The best part of this grant is the cold water fountain in the class. Students can drink ice cold water after P.E. , recess, and before the end of the day when they head to aftercare or carline. We know that cold water allows students to regulate emotions better, and I have seen how students can relax once they are hydrated and satisfied.  It has been a blessing.

Goal

What will be done with my students

My students will have a chance to take a structured break with mat and bands. We will learn different body weight exercises (push ups, planks, etc.) and students will set personal fitness goals to increase core and muscle strength. They will have a water cooler to stay hydrated  

 

Benefits to my students

Energy burned, positive activity , cold water for emotional regulation and hydration
