Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 35

With the generous grant awarded to me through Champions For Learning I was able to take 35 first graders to the Naples Zoo! We were able to observe and learn all about many different animals. Students loved spending time outside of the classroom yet still learning. We were able to bring back a plethora of information on many animals and their habitats. This class trip directly linked with our science lessons on animal habitats.

Thank you for providing us with the opportunity to learn outside the classroom in a fun and interactive way! All students had such a blast and this was all made possible because of Champions For Learning!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

To learn about animals and the environments they live in.

What will be done with my students

We will take a bus to the Naples Zoo and tour the Zoo. We will observe various animals and learn about the environments they live in

Benefits to my students

Students will be meeting 4 different standards!
DS1SC.K6.IF.3.2 Share concern and care for the environment as a part of God's creation.
SC.1.L.14.1 Make observations of living things and their environment using the five senses.
SC.1.L.16.1 Make observations that plants and animals closely resemble their parents, but variations exist among individuals within a population.
SC.1.L.17.1 Through observation, recognize that all plants and animals, including humans, need the basic necessities of air, water, food, and space.

Budget Narrative

We took a bus to the Conservancy (which is right next door) so the bus cost would be very similar, if not the same. The Zoo is s great way to learn and see the live animals in our backyard, Naples.
