Goal

To enhance the mathematical abilities and overall academic performance of K-5 students by increasing their motivation to regularly engage with math computer programs such as ALEKS and Redbird. This will be achieved by implementing targeted strategies that foster a positive attitude towards math, improve student engagement, and support personalized learning pathways through the implementation of "brag tag" rewards for recognition of completion various parts of the programs.

What will be done with my students

Students will regularly work on computer programs such as McGraw Hill's ALEKS (Grades 3-5) and Redbird (GradesK-2). Upon completing milestone lessons, or mastering various mathematical domains (E.G. Mastering all of the 4th grade Geometry topics) Students will earn a brag-tag to collect. The motivation to earn and collect all the various brag tags will keep students engaged and motivated to continue trying their best and working hard on these programs.  

Benefits to my students

Motivating and engaging students in completing computer-based math practice programs, such as ALEKS and Redbird, offers significant benefits to their learning and development. These programs provide personalized learning experiences tailored to each student's unique needs, ensuring that they grasp fundamental concepts at their own pace. Increased motivation and engagement lead to more consistent practice, which helps reinforce skills, build confidence, and foster a positive attitude toward mathematics. Furthermore, the interactive and adaptive nature of these programs keeps students interested and challenged, promoting a deeper understanding of math concepts and enhancing overall academic achievement. By keeping students motivated in working on these programs with the use of the brag tags, we will continue to see students mathematical skills grow.  

Budget Narrative

The line items (2-8) will buy personalized grade level brag tags for students to earn.
On Line 1, these are for braceletts that the students can attach their brag tags to as they collect them all.
