Goal
To offer students a place to be more engaged in their independent reading, which reading itself is addressed more than any other area of English in our B.E.S.T. State Standards, specifically ELA.8.R.1, 2, and 3.

What will be done with my students
We will have a handful of options for reading time outside of the traditional school desk which encourages a different set of lenses physically while in school, stirring a chance to pursue a different set of expectations and experiences inside the school walls. These will be rotated, earned, and offered in a variety of manners in order to provide engagement and investment from the students.
Benefits to my students
As eight graders, this is a massively important season of their academic life in which students have the potential to gain momentum and inertia for their own academic pursuits, or fall to the wayside in apathy and disinterest. The tiniest shifts to their environment have a chance to sway those preconceived notions of school and foster a new conditioned response aimed towards delight.
