Goal

The overall goal of this grant is to provide my students an organized box of tools/manipulatives that will help provide hands-on learning experiences to enhance our District Math Curriculum and Math BEST Standards. Many of the tools/manipulatives pictured are already in my classroom from district provided/personal materials, therefore I need only to add a couple of the materials to create the Mini Manipulative Kit for Mastering Math.

What will be done with my students

The kits will be used individually and/or in collaborative work. Each box will contain manipulatives/tools that students can use to while completing Math activities from our District Adopted Workbooks and Learning Games. These activities include addition/subtraction strategies, geometry and number sense practice. The tools will include the ten-frame cards requested which help with number sense and addition/subtraction concepts. The shape pieces, base-ten blocks, number line and two-sided counters are already in my classroom and will be added to the kit. 

Benefits to my students

These kits will benefit my students in a multitude of ways. The most important is having an organizational system that will be used individually or collaboratively. Also, each of the tools/manipulatives are used almost daily within my Math lessons. Having a class set of an organized system will give my students a hands-on application to our Math Learning Goals. Theses kits will also streamline our lesson/activity time as the students will not have to gather/put away several items- everything will be in one container!  

Budget Narrative

As stated before, the only items needed to complete the Mini Manipulative kit are the containers and the ten-frames. Both can be purchased on Amazon. I have the other manipulatives/tools already in my classroom. This grant would cover the cost to create 12 Mini Manipulative kits.
