Goal

The goal of this grant is to provide tangible objects and sound cues to enhance interactive, multisensory speech therapy sessions, fostering improved speech sound production, phonological awareness, and early literacy skills in children. By associating sounds with visual cues and tangible objects, these materials are evidence based to not only improve speech, but also kickstart the journey into early literacy and emerging reader skills.

What will be done with my students

The objects and sound cue cards will be used in direct speech therapy sessions with students on caseload ranging from pre-K age to 5th grade. By adding tactile objects and auditory sound cues to therapy sessions, there is evidence that progress is made much quicker while also improving sound awareness that is essential for successful literacy skills.
