What will be done with my students

These books will be showcased in the media center.
Students will read the high interest "Who was" or "Who is" biographies at their leisure

Benefits to my students

The "Who Was" or "Who Is" biography series can be a valuable educational tool for students learning about leaders and historical figures.
Here’s how it can help:
1. Engaging Stories: The series presents historical figures in a storytelling format that’s often more engaging than traditional textbooks. This narrative approach helps students connect emotionally and intellectually with the figures being studied.
2. Accessible Language: The biographies are written in a way that is age-appropriate and easy to understand. This makes complex historical and leadership concepts more accessible to younger readers or those new to the subject.
3. Historical Context: The books place leaders within the context of their time, helping students understand the historical, social, and cultural factors that influenced these figures’ actions and decisions.
4. Diverse Perspectives: The series includes a wide range of leaders from different backgrounds, regions, and eras. This diversity allows students to see different styles of leadership and the various challenges leaders face.
5. Inspirational Stories: Many biographies highlight the struggles and triumphs of leaders, offering motivational stories that can inspire students. Learning about how leaders overcame obstacles can encourage perseverance and resilience in their own lives.
6. Critical Thinking: By presenting the lives of leaders, the series prompts students to think critically about leadership qualities, decision-making, and the impact of individual actions on history.
7. Supplemental Learning: The books often include illustrations, timelines, and other visual aids that complement the text. These features can enhance understanding and retention of information.
8. Discussion Starters: The biographies can serve as a starting point for classroom discussions about leadership, ethics, and historical impact. They can help students explore what makes an effective leader and how leaders influence society.

Overall, the "Who Was" or "Who Is" series can make learning about leaders more engaging and accessible, while also providing valuable insights into history and leadership.
