The goal is to be able to continue to develop the performing arts program at Pine Ridge Middle School. Throughout the school year, students are taught the elements of acting and technical theater. If we were to receive the funding to get Eartec headset.

These headsets would give the students more exposure to working backstage and the technical aspects of theater. These headsets help the students communicate during a full-length performance so that the shows can be successful and run smoothly. It is my goal to use these to help teach my students more about the role of being backstage and how it is just as important as being on the stage acting.
Other -
The students will be able to use these headsets to communicate with each other during the two full-length productions this upcoming school year. We are planning on doing both Frozen Jr. and Shrek Jr. and it is important that we have communication between the students working backstage during the show, and those that are working in the sound and lighting booth. This teaches them how to work together and communicate like it would be in a community or professional theatre company. I plan on giving my students the opportunity to use these devices to further their understanding of the importance of technical theater.
The benefits to the students is that it prepares them for high school theater by giving them an opportunity to use equipment that is used in professional theater. Giving them the exposure to use them will aid them in understanding the roles within technical theater. Last year, the students got to use a loaner of these same headsets, I had a student on the curtain, and also several that were communicating from the sound and lighting booth calling the cues for the show. These aspects are important for the actors to know what is going on as well as the backstage crew when it comes to scenic changes, sound changes, or lighting changes. Without these headsets, this type of communication would not be possible. It provides knowledge of the technology in theater as well as gives them an opportunity to work together and communicate for the success of our productions.
Within the 2000 dollar budget, this is the one item that I would love for my students. These headsets would be used every year, and would help them learn more about the technology that is required in professional and community theater. Giving them the exposure in middle school will only aid them further in high school or in their professional career if they choose to continue in the performing arts.
It is my hope that we can receive the funding for these so the theatre program at Pine Ridge Middle can continue to flourish for these students who adore and love the arts. Thank you for your consideration in helping our program!
