Goal

Below you will see several learning goals in PE that involve cooperation, teamwork, and learning to resolve conflicts with others. These are so important to me to teach to our elementary students because this generation has lost the ability to effectively communicate with one another.

Learning goals:

Identify ways to cooperate with others regardless of personal differences during physical activity.

Identify ways to successfully resolve conflicts with others.

Identify ways to use physical activity to express feeling.

Demonstrate consideration of others while participating in physical activity.

List a benefit resulting from cooperation and sharing during physical activity.

Demonstrate consideration of others while participating in physical activity.

What will be done with my students

Students will learn in how to work together to reach a goal. They will learn how to communicate effectively, using a kind tone, how to be an effective leader within their group so that everyone on their team can be successful.

I would put students in groups of 4-8 with each ball maze and assign each member a role. One can be the ball dropper, one can be the communicator, one can be the reflector, and one could be the timer. That way they all have an important role and can see how working together can accomplish something amazing. 

Benefits to my students

I could honestly write an essay in this box because today's generation of students lack important social skills, as well as effective communication skills. Many of them are born and instantly given technology to keep them entertained and they rely on it too much. Technology is wonderful in many ways, but in the education world, PE teachers have seen a tremendous decrease in the ability to effective communicate and work together. Students struggle to use their words to say what they'd like and when they do work together, it usually ends in a conflict. This game would benefit our students in their abilities to work together, communicate effective, learning to take turns, it will teach them how to resolve conflict to reach an end goal and so much more. 

Budget Narrative

By having 5 MazeRun Ball Maze sets, this would allow us to ensure that all 40 of our students at PE have a handle to hold to participate.
