What will be done with my students

I would use this activity with my students after I've taught the proper overhand shooting technique of how to shoot a basketball. Once the students grasped the understanding of how to shoot a basketball, this game could be used in a station or as an end of unit relay game. This would be fun way for students to be assessed in front of the coaches if they can properly shoot a basketball overhand. Sometimes they could pass it to classmates then take the shot, or pass it to several teammates, or work on their dribbling skills before they shoot too.

Benefits to my students

Students will thoroughly enjoy using their passing, dribbling, and shooting skills in a game that evolves teamwork, competition, and strategy. This is a piece of equipment that many students would never get to experience because of its price and I hope that we can bring this amazing activity to Sabal Palm Elementary!

Thank you!

Budget Narrative

Players compete in this giant Connect 4 game to get the most strings of 4 by strategically shooting their team's basketballs into the goal. Players from each team start at one end of the play area and coordinate to advance the ball together by dribbling and passing the ball. They may move only when they are in possession of the ball. Once they get to the shooting line, players take a shot at the goal. If a shot is missed, the player rebounds the ball and passes it to his/her teammate. They continue taking turns shooting the ball until the shot is made. For every string of 4 balls in the goal, a team gets 1 point. The team with the most point at the end of the game wins! All games encourage teamwork, while also building teamwork skills.

Set includes basketball frame (76"W x 74"H x 40"D; 32 lb), net, 42 vinyl basketballs, a VersaBag mesh storage bag, and activity instructions.
