A Champion For Learning - $1,989.00
This proposal seeks funding to enhance the music education program at Rhodora J. Donahue Academy in Ave Maria by acquiring a diverse collection of classroom percussion and mallet instruments. These instruments will provide hands-on opportunities for students in grades PK-5 to explore rhythm, melody, and musical expression in a collaborative setting. By integrating percussion and mallet instruments into our elementary music curriculum, we aim to engage all students, fostering their creativity, improving motor skills, and building a strong foundation in music literacy.
The primary goal of this project is to improve music education at [School Name] by providing students with access to quality percussion and mallet instruments. Our specific objectives are:
To engage students in active music-making through hands-on experiences.
To teach students about rhythm, melody, and musical expression using percussion and mallet instruments.
To enhance fine motor skills and coordination through instrument performance.
To foster teamwork, collaboration, and a sense of community through ensemble playing.
Class Furniture - Carpets, choral risers, transitional seating/desks, etc.
At Donahue, our music program serves approximately 200 students, a number that will double in 2025 as we add modular classrooms to our campus. While our students show immense potential, our current instrument inventory is limited, leaving many children without access to the resources they need to fully engage in hands-on music learning.
Elementary school is a pivotal time for students to develop a love for music, rhythm, and creativity. Research shows that early exposure to music education significantly enhances cognitive development, fine motor skills, and social-emotional growth. Unfortunately, our music program lacks essential percussion and mallet instruments like xylophones, glockenspiels, hand drums, and rhythm sticks, limiting the scope and depth of our instruction.
Implementation Plan:
Integrate the instruments into the existing elementary music curriculum, aligning with national and state music education standards.
Offer hands-on lessons where students will explore rhythm and melody through structured group activities and improvisation.
Organize grade-level performances, giving students the opportunity to demonstrate their skills for parents and the school community.
These instruments are integral for teaching foundational musical concepts, including rhythm, melody, and ensemble work. By providing students with access to a variety of percussion and mallet instruments, we can offer them a more dynamic and inclusive music education experience.
Each item row is the sale price of each instrument or set of instruments combined. Shipping estimation is included.
