The goal of the “Eyes on Boards” project is to explore the power of vision—both literal and symbolic—through collaborative art. By focusing on the motif of eyes, students will reflect on how they see the world, how they are seen by others, and how art can serve as a powerful form of communication. Whether through personal vision boards or interactive installations, this project invites students to express their perspectives, spark curiosity, and transform everyday spaces into thought-provoking visual experiences. It’s a celebration of observation, imagination, and the many ways we connect through what we see—and what we choose to show.

Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 1000

Completing the Eyes on Boards project had a meaningful and lasting impact on my students. Throughout the process, students grew not only as artists, but as collaborators and thinkers. By contributing to a shared public artwork, they learned that their individual voices matter and that their work can have purpose beyond the classroom.

Students developed stronger observation and drawing skills, especially in understanding value, proportion, and emotional expression. Many students gained confidence as they saw their ideas evolve from sketches into finished pieces. For some, this project provided an opportunity to succeed in a new way—through creativity, personal expression, and visual storytelling.

Working toward a collective goal encouraged responsibility, patience, and teamwork. Students learned how to give and receive feedback, make group decisions, and respect different styles and perspectives. Seeing their artwork installed in a public space gave students a strong sense of pride and ownership, reinforcing that their creativity contributes to the larger school community.

Most importantly, this project helped students understand that art can communicate powerful ideas and emotions. The experience fostered connection, empathy, and self-expression—skills that will benefit them both inside and outside the art room.

Expected Outcomes

Community art installations are a powerful form of visual storytelling. Unlike temporary projects, they leave a lasting legacy—connecting students, staff, and stakeholders across generations. These works serve as a shared voice, sparking inspiration and dialogue within the school community for years to come.

Purpose of Funding

All necessary supplies for the “Eyes on Boards” collaborative art installation will be purchased from Art Supplies, with the exception of the wooden planks needed for the artwork. Due to the cost of lumber, I plan to reach out to a community member who may be able to donate their time and tools to cut and provide the wood.

I believe this project will spark meaningful narratives between students, faculty, and community leaders, and leave a lasting impact on our school environment. Thank you for your consideration and support.
