Goal

The main goal is to take every student, teacher, parent, grandparent, administrator...etc. on a magical journey to Christmas in Whoville.

Category

School-Wide, Grade-Level, Or Class Events/Programs - Parent Nights, Honor Roll Celebrations, EOY Events, etc.

What will be done with my students

Every visitor that visits "Whoville" will be able to connect with the community of Whoville, Cindy Lu Who and her family members, Martha May Whovier, the Mayor, and let's not forget the Grinch himself. With this grant, I will be able to transform my classroom into the town of Whoville, and will be able to incorporate rhyme schemes, poetic elements, character and plot development, and story elements for all grades at Lake Park. This feat will be accomplished by my students performing Dr, Seuss' "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" play. Throughout the entirety of elementary school, poetic elements are taught. Why not incorporate poetry in a fun way that all grade levels can love? This grant will help pay for the props and scenery to transform my classroom, as well as the costumes needed for each student.

Benefits to my students

The benefits to my students, and the students that visit from Lake Park, is allowing poetry to be exemplified with the correlation of the Arts. Students will focus on multiple rhyme schemes within multiple poems and music, alliteration, hyperboles, onomatopoeia, similes, metaphors, character development, character traits, and story development.

Budget Narrative

Thank-you so much for considering helping my students and the families at Lake Park Elementary! This will be the third time that my class has performed the Grinch in correlation with our second grade poetry unit, and any help is greatly appreciated!
