Goal

The goal of the collaborative 6-8 grade art project is to help children see the magic that happens when kids work together in group art projects.

Category

School supplies - Markers, paints, paper, crayons, clay, pencils, sharpies, modeling dough, etc.

What will be done with my students

The students during art class will come up with ideas for image that can use the technique of "mosaic" to line the walls of the school as a permanent art installation. The students will learn and be involved with all of the decisions and process of designing, creating, and the installation of the murals.

Benefits to my students

Mosaic Murals are a Form of Communication. Art projects come and go. Mosaic Murals are here to stay. They are a legacy, a means for students, staff, and stakeholders to communicate from generation to generation. Mosaic Murals are an artistic dialogue serving to provoke and inspire present and future student populations. Mosaic Murals speak to school bodies.

Budget Narrative

The supplies will be purchased from Dick Blick Art Supplies and Home Depot. This project was funded in the past--therefore, some of the tools can be reused.

I'm glad to report that the mosaic tiles will be donated by a community member (they own a tile company and have an abundance of recycle materials).
