What will be done with my students

Our grant, GGHS Criicuteers, was funded in 2022 and it continues to be a huge success. Our GGHS Cricuteers have continued creating and learning new skills. We even added sewing to our project this year too!! We will teach basic sewing skills so the students can learn to hem, put on a button and create pillows! The students are taught how to start a mock business and to use their measurement, computer, reading and math skills in a whole new way creating beautiful projects like aprons, mask holders, t-shirts, coffee mugs and greeting cards. The students also learn how to market and teach students in general education through our inclusive partners club. We are asking to replenish are supplies to continue this project.

Benefits to my students

Sustaining employment is not easy for people with intellectual disabilities, therefore we emphasis the importance of entrepreneur skills. Through this approach, students are given the opportunity to dream big and put their skills to the test. These lessons provide creativity, self-confidence and life skills needed for their future no matter their career path. Students will be empowered and their self-confidence will soar!

Budget Narrative

These items will continue to keep the project/business going and to add sewing. Our machines from the previous grant are still in good shape and we were able to purchase a sewing machine last year from our Grind Up Cafe coffee business!
