Goal

Students will be introduced to books focusing on emotions and self-regulation skills. Students will improve their ability to identify emotions in themselves and others. Additionally, they will learn how to identify and begin utilizing coping strategies to manage their emotions.

What will be done with my students

I plan to read these books with my students that are in classrooms for students with special needs. I plan to incorporate these books into lessons/discussions/learning activities related to the Zones of Regulation curriculum focusing on developing self-regulation skills.
 

 

Benefits to my students

Research supports the read-aloud process as having many benefits to literacy learning. Research also shows that self-regulation skills helps students with academic achievement.

 

 

Budget Narrative

The 31 books will be read to students to lay the foundation for self-regulation skills along with improving literacy learning and academic achievement.

The $350.12 will be used to purchase the books as well as cover the cost of taxes and shipping.
